A Tin Roof First and Why We Couldn’t Be Happier!

What do you think of when you think of our humble brewery? We would like to think you think of delicious beers and a wonderful environment. We would also hope that you think of the great men that have been behind our beers’ inception and some of the great changes happening to our beer lately.

With all of the change headed our way in 2017, we figured it was time for one more. We are at long last adding a woman to our brew floor; a huge first for us! We are especially excited to announce that we will be pulling from within our own existing staff moving Cala Miller from our Taproom Manager to a Packaging Technician.

Cala has been with us for almost two years and began her Tin Roof journey as a bartender. A long time lover of craft beer, Cala has lived and worked in the craft beer industry in five different states, but says that the Southern hospitality and friendly environment she has found in Baton Rouge is incomparable to anywhere else. “Louisiana’s culture is extremely unique. There is just so much character and culture here,” said Miller.

Like the rest of us, Cala loves our friendly staff here and believes we have created a truly warm environment here at Tin Roof. When she moved to Baton Rouge a job at Tin Roof Brewing Company was her number one priority and clearly her hard work has paid off. Upon moving to the brew floor, she will be doing work on our canning line, kegging, cleaning and sanitation. Once the beer is finished it will have her hands all over it in the packaging line and since our Cala is such a lover of technical activities we believe she will be a perfect fit!

Waking up at 5:00am and filling pallets with beer might not be everyone’s dream job, but for Cala this symbolizes that she has made it to the brewery side, which only a small percentage of women can say they have done. When asked about her biggest excitements for this new journey Cala joked, “One thing’s for sure, I’m going to have some serious bicepts,” and then added, “I love what the guys have been doing over there and am so excited to grow on that side and increase my knowledge.”

Good luck to you, Cala! We think you’re going to do a great job! And yes folks, this does mean we are looking for a new taproom manager. If you or someone you know is interested in this position, please send your resumes and cover letters to our Marketing Director, Malena, at malena@tinroofprd.wpengine.com.
